John Stossel, Fox News Channel, And Native Americans!

John Stossel, who used to be on ABC News, and now works for the Fox Business Channel and Fox News Channel, has come to the conclusion that native Americans are a fortunate group, and has received more aid from the federal government than any other ethnic group!

What an amazing statement for Stossel to make, although he is noted for making whacky statements before now, which have no basis in fact!

How exactly have native Americans “benefited” from federal aid, when their land, their culture, their tribal government, were taken away from them, and citizenship only came in 1924, and only after Franklin D. Roosevelt became President were they allowed in 1934 to reclaim their tribal governments and culture, after 47 years of being “Americanized”?

Native Americans were killed in large numbers, and they lost their dignity and humanity to the US Military and to settlers, who thought the only good Indian was a dead Indian!

Native Americans remain the poorest ethnic group in the United States bar none, and their country was taken away from them without apologies, and with plenty of treaty breaking by the US government on a regular basis over the years!

So John Stossel shows no understanding of the disaster visited upon native Americans, and as usual, comes across as totally stupid and insensitive! But then again, he now works for Fox News Channel and Fox Business Channel, not ABC, where it is clear many of his colleagues had to be rolling their eyes and shaking their heads on a regular basis, by his total inability to see how off base he was!

I did not see his program on Native Americans. I am of native blood. I would very much like to know what and where his investigations took place. What and where are the most corruptions taking place? My tribe is buried in debt, mostly by inept management, and questionable ethics. They have incurred that huge debt by trying to construct a casino, hundreds of miles off their reservation, which resulted in a bankruptcy. They are yet trying to build another casino in that same general area, over the disapproval of the entire tribal membership.

I was very upset to learn that the United States would let this guy to go on National t.v. to announce his hatred to the Native Americans. I for one am an enrolled member of the Nez Perce Tribe, also enrolled into a native american college on our reserevation. Taken Native American Studies as my major. To see such hatred that came from the same prople that have taken from the Natives all these years out of greed. Now speaks of us wanting something back from their whiteman asses. The hell to the Yes. If you cant handle that JOHH STOSSEL THEN MOVE BACK TO ENGLAND WHERE YOU REALLY BELONG. FUCK!!!!!!!!!

‘The Progressive Professor’ totally misrepresents Stossel’s presentation and fails to see his legitimate point. The fact is tribes do receive more in aid than any other ethnic group, yet they are still plagued with the high poverty rates. Why is that? Because the ‘progressive’, or communist system that administers the aid, is corrupt, inefficient, and inept.

Granted, American history is stained with atrocities and malevolence against native Americans, but that is the past. The world is ever-changing no matter what, and strong people transcend the victimhood mentality and adapt and change with the times to be proud once again.

Mary Lawrence, you are the hateful one. Stossel was simply, and accurately, pointing out that more government is not the solution. If you really cared, you’d acknowledge that dependency on Statist welfare does not lead to prosperity. You think your ideals are noble, but the policies you probably support only strengthen the failed communist entitlement system that inevitably backfires on its intended purpose, and ultimately serves to keep people oppressed.
